A few years ago the Vatican did consider allowing condoms to be used when one partner might infect the other with an STD. However, the condom would have to have a pinhole in it because each conjugal act has to be open to the possibility of the ‘transmission of life’. Steve Bell in the Guardian had Prince Phillip wearing a ‘Holey Catholic condom’ on his head, for reasons that escape me right now.
