I think I was working at my old university’s student union or something (University of Manchester), except it was in Scotland. We were hosting a dinner with JD Vance and students and had promoted it, but not done anything to prepare for it. My brain kept mixing up Vance with (I think) Dan Snow, who was also the Minister for Culture for the Scottish Government.
Anyway, lots of people turned up to attend this dinner which we hadn’t organised. Vance/Snow turned up and I distracted him by taking him on a tour of the dining room, which opened up into a nature reserve complete with a stream and waterfall. So I took him back there to look at things while they scrabbled to organise things.
Eventually it was ready so we took everyone to a second dining hall where the dinner was to take place. While I was walking there, the union reception asked me to come to reception where I had a message. The receptionist was Marlon Brando’s character from The Wild One, and the message turned out to be that James Graham, the playwright, had written a review of The Wild One in some promotional magazine (in retrospect it was probably Jim Graham the film critic who is probably more irritated to get people confusing him with the other one than I do). The dream ended with me attempting to take a photo of the article on my phone.
