Last year, Gordon Brown wrote a book on courage only for it to emerge that he had anything but. This year he is to write a book on being British. Should we therefore assume it is about to be revealed that he is in fact French?

Well that’s extremely likely. Scottish Law is based on the Napoleonic Code and before the Act of Union the Scots were more likely to ally with the French than the English. So there is probably a very strong connection.
