How about not screwing the poor, which is what Darling is still doing? How about not introducing unsustainable tax cuts and splurging £3bn the country doesn't have on a blatant tax bribe? How about responding to it a year ago, when the Lib Dems (and others) were shouting about it while the feckless bunch of no-marks on the Labour backbenches were still insisting we were making it all up? How about paying for an increase in tax allowance through any of the numerous proposals we have outlined?

I'm sorry you feel people should doff their caps and know their place. The days of that sort of thing are over: deal with it.

"At first, they simply couldn’t understand why a change that benefited the majority of people was proving so unpopular. In interview after interview they blathered on about most people being better off and “hard working families” as if the inherent unfairness of it all didn’t matter. When that didn’t work, both three weeks ago and now, their response has been to buy off not just the people least effected by the change but a large number of other voters as well."

Jesus, a guy responds to pressure from his own MPs to do something reasonable and popular, and all you can do is slam him for making it too popular. In democracies, I think popularity is a good starting point for any policy, this included.

Seriously, what do you have to do to keep people like yourself happy? Apart from being a Liberal Democrat, of course...
