Both Labour and Conservative Party Conferences were criticised in the media for allowing the Scientology cult in last year. And the Tories have done it again? Yes I'm a LibDem too and I don't expect joined up thinking from politicians in general, but still...

This is not harmless quackery, this is a dangerous cult that breaks up families, ruins lives, and compulsively lies about everything. You added the official links to cult websites, here's a couple of more informative ones:

As one who has been watching Scientology for years, it is quite clear to me why they've set up a presence at this exhibition.

One of the really effective ways the cult has to influence communities and governments is to send in some very personable "friends" to get close to opinion leaders and influence them later. It's nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with their Pinky and the Brain-like drive to Try To Take Over the World. How better to do that than make friends with politicians who were ignorant enough to stop by their display of "social betterment" programs.
Never mind that Narconon is a useless and expensive scam. "We help people get off drugs!" their argument goes. "We help children to read!"

It all sounds very good until you look at their programs in detail, at which time you realize what utter rubbish they are.

The purpose behind their presence is simple; good PR for their programs and the opportunity to meet, schmooze, and possibly befriend opinion leaders who can help further their cause. As Hubbard said in a 1962 lecture on the future of orgs (Scientology centers)

"Once the world is Clear - a nation, a state, a city
or a village - the Scientology-organization in the
area becomes its government! And once this has taken
place the only policy accepted as valid is Scientology
policy."

It's nice to see another Graham taking a swing of the cult stick at Scientology!
