I'm trying to work out what 'dirty tricks' Colchester CLP would be accusing us of and drawing a blank, unless they're somehow blaming us for the fact that they appeared on Wife Swap.

And it was a Tendring councillor who was outed, not a Colchester one.

Collective action:
Nothing wrong with is so long as its voluntary. The same goes for collectivism.

I don't believe that Labour is evil (any more than the Tories and perhaps with a few exception ;) but the collectivism is misguided and dangerous. Its based upon a coercive collectivism, a do as we say or else attitude with little willingness to tolerate individual dissent or experimentation...

It's all about the greater good for them though, isn't it?

I agree with you that it's their collectivism that is their greatest asset. Their ability to sub-serve their own wills and opinions for the good of the party is how Brown's able to demonstrate "power" and "strength". He knows that Cameron is just unable to command his party in the same way and so it is impossible for him to get out of the frame that they've made for him.

The way I see it, the whole conference was about Brown demonstrating his authority over the party so that Harriet Harman, at the very end, could announce (and make it sound entirely true) that Cameron was weak.

They know they can win if they keep their mouths shut. What exactly they think they're winning is quite another thing.
