He also knows that given the chance to comment on the possibility of a Scottish Olympic team, Brown will make a complete mess of it, presenting the SNP with another chance to point out how badly Scotland gets treated by the authorities. It's a pretty pathetic start for the new government. Tellingly, Salmond hadn't even bothered to discuss the matter with his own cabinet before going public.
