"Speaking at the launch of his themes paper Mr Hughes said:
....“Members have to make a choice. Do they want a leader for this parliament and this generation or do they want a caretaker? Do they want a leader with 30 years experience of campaigning up and down the United Kingdom, someone who has shown to be able to relate to people, or do they want a leader who has held a highly marginal seat in parliament for just nine months, lacks campaigning experience and has no evidence of relating well to the British public."

Simon wasn't going to get a preference from me anyway, but he's now lost any respect I had for him aswell.</description>

		<description>Be fair, Simon made these remarks back in a time when it was unusual for MPs to come clean about their personal attacks on each other. He didn't so much lie as try and keep this aspect of his personality private. It is a source of great regret that people who engage in the practice of diminuation of their opponents may now be put off politics by this unreasonable media scrutiny and intrusion.</description>
